INDIA bloc MPs on Wednesday staged a protest in Parliament premises over the alleged discrimination against opposition-ruled states in the Union Budget 2024. Now, in a scathing attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has ‘advised’ that he will be "isolated" if he continues to run the government according to political likes and dislikes.
Taking to X, the Tamil Nadu CM wrote, “#INDIA coalition MPs have staged a protest protesting the omission of several states in the Union financial report. Hon'ble Prime Minister @narendramodi You said, "The election is over, now we have to think about the country." But yesterday #Budget2024 will save your rule, but not the Indian nation! Run the government in general. Don't be bent on avenging those who have yet defeated you. I am obliged to advise you that if you run the government according to political likes and dislikes, you will be isolated.”
Earlier, CM Stalin had also said Tamil Nadu was completely ignored in the Union Budget and in order to condemn it, he added that would boycott the NITI Aayog meet that is to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On his descision to boycott the NITI ayog meet, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai said the Union Budget was designed to benefit people with low incomes, women, youth, and farmers. However, Stalin's decision to boycott the meeting, “on the basis that the budget did not mention Tamil Nadu by name, is quite theatrical.”
In a post on X, Annamalai said the Chief Minister is "trying to create an impression that no welfare schemes will be made available to the states other than those named in the text of the financial statement."
He added, “When the DMK was in alliance with the Congress Party at the Center for ten years from 2004 to 2014, the name of Tamil Nadu did not appear in the financial statements filed for 6 years. Will you say that during those 6 years, the central government in alliance with Congress DMK did not provide any programs to Tamil Nadu?"
“Does Chief Minister Stalin know that not even one-tenth of the welfare schemes given to Tamil Nadu by the government of our Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Mr. @narendramodi in the last ten years from 2014 to 2024, when the DMK-Congress alliance was in power?”
The state BJP President added, “It is a fact that the DMK MPs, who were elected to speak in Parliament about the needs of the constituency, have never spoken about their constituency-related issues in Parliament in the last 5 years. Now if the Chief Ministers decide to boycott the meeting as well, the people of Tamil Nadu will suffer.”
